People close to me know that I am a sucker for a good musical. In fact, I break out into Annie‘s “Tomorrow” pretty much every day!
Arguably my favorite musical of all time is The Book of Mormon. How can it not be? The songs are infectious and the humor is offensively satirical.
I love it so much that the soundtrack (along with The Greatest Showman’s) was my gym playlist for a whole year lol.
(Yep, I can work out to slow songs. In fact, I sometimes prefer it. 😉 )
Last summer, I presented a proposal to my boyfriend Ange: to go to New York and “experience” Broadway for the first time together. Naturally, he said yes because he also became a fan of The Book of Mormon under my influence. And so, we decided to plan a New York trip around the show. 😆
As expected, The Book of Mormon was spectacular! I developed an intense love for it simply by replaying the soundtrack over Youtube. Watching it in person complete with actual lines and choreographies was just…overwhelming.
After the show, when Ange and I were getting ready to walk back to our hotel, we noticed that some of the actors came out with Sharpies in hand. I thought I should say “Hello” (*wink wink*) and ask them to sign my Playbill.
By the way, the guy in blue, Dave Thomas Brown, played the Elder Price!!!
I was unbelievably giddy throughout the whole experience. Honestly, it couldn’t have gone any better! If you, like myself, are a fan of somewhat indelicate humor and show tunes, you must see this show!
I am beyond excited for the next time I come back to this amazing city and watch more broadway musicals. And next time, I’ll make sure Ange has pictures, too. 😉
